The first Dedolight was built by Cinematographer Dedo Weigert in 1984. In 1990 the unique innovation of the Dedolight system was recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with a Technical Achievement Award, which was further followed by a Cinec award in 2002 and both an Academy Scientific and Engineering Award and Emmy Award in 2003.
Initially producing only one model of light, the Dedolight range has expanded over the years to include small softlights and larger halogen and HMI heads. Since many lighting situations require both direct and also a gentle wrap-around soft light, the innovation of the Dedolight range is that lampheads are generally designed to be dual purpose and thus are easily converted from a powerful direct light to a soft light source.
Another unique feature is that of aspherics lens technology, which allows for a strong clean beam without stray light and a focusing range from flood to spot of approximately 20:1 (compared to the ratio of 3:1 from similar lights). As a result this provides a light output comparable to much larger light sources. Lemac stocks a huge range of Dedolight products.
