The vintage Canon K-35 25-120mm Macro zoom is a unique lens from another time.
Designed in the early 1970's, this lens was the world's first 35mm format zoom to feature a Macro function for achieving close focus. It has a fast and constant T2.8 stop across the entire 5x zoom range. In fact for it's time the performance of this zoom outperformed many primes lenses on offer. The K-35 primes were later released in 1976.
So revolutionary was this lens, that in 1973 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences awarded it a Scientific or Technical achievement award, for the "Excellent K-35 lens as a major achievement that enriched the motion picture film medium".
The K-35 25-120mm offers a vintage character that is often only found in primes. While sharp wide open, it has a little less contrast, with that classic Canon warmth. It easily flares and when it does, they blend into the textured bokeh and look just like other Canon classic's, the K-35 Primes and FD Primes.
Lemac has owned this lens for a very long time, and it was a favourite of Lemac founder John Bowring ACS. In recent years we have given this unicorn lens a thorough overhaul and tuning. It has been upgraded to PL mount and is also compatible with 4x5.65" clamp-on matte boxes.
While only covering the standard 35mm format, this lens is certainly usable in Super35, and when paired with one our Full Frame expanders you get a beautiful 40-192mm T4 1/3 equivalent lens.
The perfect match to our Rehoused Canon FD Primes and our exclusive Rehoused Canon FD 50-300mm Zoom.
The Canon K-35 25-120mm T2.8 is available for your next project from Lemac Rentals.
