Known for their compact and lightweight design, constant aperture, and solid build quality, the Angenieux Optimo zoom lenses have been an industry standard since their first introduction. The Optimo series have a consistent, and not not overly pronounced look, defined as a uniform blend of color, contrast and resolution, with very low distortion. This makes them easy to intercut with a variety of other lenses including those from Canon, Cooke, Sigma and Zeiss (to name a few).
Physically, the Optimos share a consistent centre of gravity, coupled with consistent placement of the focus, iris and zoom scales, meaning the lightweight Optimos are a breeze to change and making them particularly well-suited to Steadicam and gimbal applications; t's easy to see why the Optimo family of zooms are considered an industry standard with cinematographers all over the world.
