Canon's CN-E FP X Sumire Prime Lenses are a first for Canon, with their PL lens mount, and unique visual style. Sumire, pronounced “Soo-mee-ray,” is the name of a Japanese flower, and like the petals of a flower, these lenses are most beautiful when fully opened. This is the inspiration behind the Sumire look. Devoted to detail, they feature a large-diameter aspheric element and anomalous dispersion glass, offering a delicate, velvety nuance when approaching the wide end of the aperture, subtly modifying textural renderings for pleasing bokeh, flare and a soft fall in contrast. This means that you can achieve two different looks in the same lens; a character heavy look when at the wide end of the aperture, and a cleaner traditional look when stopped down. Sumire primes inherit the same subtle warm colour tone from the Canon Cinema lens range, making it easy to change lenses without affecting colour balance. Physically compact and light weight, all of the Sumire Primes feature the same 300 degree focus scale rotation, an 11-blade iris, unified 114mm front diameter and unified positioning of the focus and iris scales, which in turn makes them a great match for cine production use. The Sumire Primes feature a large image circle allowing them to be used for both Full Frame or Super35 formats.
