The Zeiss Supreme Primes were developed after heavy consultation with cinematographers across the world. The vintage Zeiss “Super Speeds” have gained popularity with DP’s in recent years, given their gentle roll off and sharpness wide open. With the Supreme Primes, Zeiss wanted to give cinematographers a lens series that offered a similar character, but for use in large format cinematography and with modern design reliability. The Supreme Primes have a pleasing roll off on the edge of the full frame, with a lower contrast than previous Zeiss lenses such as the Ultra and Master Primes series. Consistency is one of the key elements offered by the ZEISS Supreme Prime lenses: that means consistent coverage, color rendering, aperture, size, weight and ergonomics. All Supreme Primes are colour matched to other ARRI and Zeiss lenses, including the ARRI/Zeiss Master Primes, the ARRI/Zeiss Ultra Primes, the ARRI/Fujinon Alura Studio Zooms, the Zeiss CP.3's, the Zeiss CP.2's, the Zeiss LWZ.2 and the Zeiss Compact Cinema Zooms. Zeiss Supreme’s all have a large image circle covering Full Frame and larger formats. All lenses also have a fast aperture, with most of the series having a fast T-stop of T1.5. The Zeiss Supreme Primes offer a painterly, yet consistent look to your images whether using them in Full Frame or Super35 formats.
