Shooting on 2 of Lemac's Canon C300s (PL), "Backyard Ashes" is an upcoming Aussie feature film (the first, for production company Crow Crow Productions). Written by Wagga locals Peter Cox and Mark Grentell, it is a film based in Wagga Wagga, filmed in Wagga Wagga and most importantly filled with the people of Wagga Wagga.
The official Backyard Ashes website states:
"The Ashes cricket series between Australia and England is one of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in professional sports. It is a rivalry that is steeped in tradition and has over two hundred years of history behind it. Our story "Backyard Ashes" uses the famous Australian past time of backyard cricket as an analogy for the bitter sporting rivalry between the two nations."
"If you loved the Australian classic comedies like THE CASTLE, BODYLINE, THE NUGGET and CRACKERJACK, then you are going get up and scream "HOWZAT!!" when you watch BACKYARD ASHES."
Directed by Mark Grentell and shot by DOP Damian Wyvill ACS, "Backyard Ashes" looks to be a very promising project. We wish the cast and crew all the best and we look forward to it's release.
